The Foreign Exchange Professionals Association (FXPA), a US-based membership organization that represents the interests of professional participants engaged in the global foreign exchange industry, has elected new personnel for its Officers and Board Members. The new leaders were elected at the organization’s Annual Meeting held on February 14th, 2023, FXPA announced on Tuesday.

FXPA disclosed that Susan Dauber, the Head of Legal and Regulatory at Euronext FX, has been appointed as its new Chair. Additionally, Dauber is the Chairperson of the Euronext Markets Singapore. She takes over the position from Chris Leonard-Appleton, the Head of FX Risk and Regulation at the London Stock Exchange Group, who was previously the Acting Chair. Another executive from Euronext FX, Kelvin Wolf, who held the position at an earlier time while Leonard-Appleton served as the Vice Chair.

In addition, FXPA elected Chip Lowry, the Senior Managing Director and long-time executive at State Street Global Markets, as the new Vice Chair. Lowry takes over the position from Tod Van Name, the Global Head of FX Electronic Trading at Bloomberg, who served as acting Vice Chair.

Furthermore, the professional body voted Paul Houston, the Global Head of FX at CME Group, as Treasurer and Lauren Rosborough Watt, an Investment Manager at the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS), as Secretary. Watt takes over the role that was previously handled by Jordan Barnett, the Managing Director at BNY Mellon.

FXPA Lists New Board Members

During the 14th Annual Meeting, FXPA elected other Officers. Alex Blackmur, the Director of FX, Corporate Finance and Strategic Investments at Microsoft, has been selected as the new Head of FXPA’s Buy Side Working Group. Blackmur's posting comes as FXPA recently added Mesirow and Insight Investment to its buy-side Advisory Membership group.

Furthermore, FXPA’s Board now comprises of Dauber, Watt, Houston, Leonard-Appleton, Blackmur and Lowry. Other Board Members include Martin Knudsen, the Senior Product Manager of FX Electronic Trading at Bloomberg, Mike Margolis, Assistant General Counsel at Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE), Christopher Matsko, the Global Head of FX Trading Services at Portware, and KC Lam, Head of FX and Rates at the Singapore Exchange (SGX).

The New Chair at FXPA Speaks about the FX Market

Dauber, the new Chair at FXPA, boasts nearly 40 decades of finance-related legal experience, having started out as a Litigation Associate at Cravath Swaine & Moore in September 1985. The senior executive has worked for top organizations, such as Instinet and Citigroup.

Speaking on her choice as Chair, Dauber expressed readiness to work with all members to represent 'the collective voice' of the forex industry. She explained that the forex market without a doubt will remain in the public eye this year owing to recent volatility that is the result of global tension, inflationary pressure and shifts in monetary policy.

“It would appear FX volumes are set to continue to grow in 2023 with an increasing interest in the APAC region, and we look forward to continuing to expand the FXPA’s membership and outlook,” Dauber explained.
