One Trading secured an undisclosed strategic investment from Nasdaq Ventures, laying the groundwork for the two firms to explore potential joint initiatives. Through this partnership, both companies plan to assess options for upgrading 24/7 operating infrastructure into traditional derivatives while broadening their available product offerings.

London's trading industry is coming home!

Amsterdam-based One Trading is a regulated derivatives and crypto exchange. It offers round-the-clock spot crypto and perpetual futures on equities trading to both retail and institutional investors.

“Nasdaq Ventures shares our belief that markets must continue to evolve to better support clients’ liquidity and capital needs,” said Joshua Barraclough, CEO of One Trading. “We believe the future of derivatives markets will be shaped by advances in technology, risk management and market infrastructure that make markets more efficient, responsive and resilient.”

Nasdaq’s Aggressive Push for 24/7 Infrastructure

Nasdaq Ventures, the exchange operator's corporate venture branch, has been strategically deploying capital into technologies bridging traditional finance with round-the-clock infrastructure.

Just last month, Nasdaq announced a US$100 million investment in Payward, the parent company of the global crypto exchange Kraken.

Similarly to the One Trading deal, Nasdaq explicitly stated that the Kraken collaboration centered on "infrastructure supporting tokenized equities, always-on markets, and the convergence of financial systems and decentralized networks."

"At Nasdaq Ventures, we look for teams building disruptive technologies that are uniquely positioned to expand liquidity and transparency while addressing market participants’ needs — advancing the modernization of capital markets,” said Gary Offner, Global Head of Nasdaq Ventures.”

Nasdaq and its peers, like CME, which recently launched 24/7 futures, are preparing for a future where US equities, European derivatives and digital assets all trade on 24/7, tokenized and continuously settled rails.
