ATFX UK Taps State Street's Chris James to Lead Liquidity Management
Chris James is ATFX UK's newly appointed Head of Liquidity Management

ATFX UK, an online forex and CFD broker, has hired Chris James, a former member of State Street’s Currenex’s global liquidity management team, to head its liquidity management team in the UK. James, who boasts of over two decades of industry experience, announced his new role through LinkedIn on Monday. He left State Street last month.

Furthermore, James’ LinkedIn profile shows that he assumed the new position at ATFX UK in January. His new role comes after he spent almost eight years at Currenex, having joined in April 2015.

At Currenex, which provides high-performance FX trading solutions, James contributed towards ensuring that buy-side and sell-side clients get optimal liquidity by managing the demands from both regulatory and business standpoints.

On LinkedIn, he described his job at Currenex as “a client facing role which involves developing and maintaining relationships across the FX space with tier 1 banks, regional banks and non-bank participants alike.”

However, despite the focus on institutional clients in his last role, James has significant experience working in the retail industry. Before joining Currenex, he worked at ATFX UK’s rival company, Alpari UK, where he was a Senior Trader for over six and a half years. As part of his duties, James helped “to process clients’ transactions (FX, CFDs and spreadbetting) via MT4 platform and other white label solutions,'' among other responsibilities.

Meanwhile, James gathered other industry experience working for Deutsche Bank, Henyep Investment (UK) Limited and Fidelity Investments between 2001 and 2008.

He served as a Senior Derivatives Dealer and Shift Manager for almost five years at Henyep Investment (UK) Limited between December 2003 and July 2008. In his role, he contributed to quoting instant two-way prices to brokers and clients using live exchange-traded prices available on Reuters and Bloomberg. Additionally, he helped to facilitate client trades via MetaTrader 4 platform and voice trading.

Furthermore, at Fidelity Investments, where he spent only seven months, he worked as the Bank Reconciliation’s Administrator helping to complete daily reconciliations of bank funds, input FX trades into in-house systems and investigate any outstanding cash queries. Moreover, he was a Reconciliation Clerk at Deutsche Bank for over a year between September 2001 and December 2002.
